Read moreJjimdak is a popular Korean braised chicken. It originated in the city of Andong, Korea. It’s savoury, mildly salty and sweet with a very subtle spicy kick. It has a somewhat complex flavour and because of that, it’s highly addictive and comforting!
Today I’m sharing an easy kimbap recipe. In Korea, we call it Yachae Kimbap (야채 김밥). It means vegetable kimbap and this is the most basic kimbap variety available in Korea.
This is a great use of leftover kimchi. As with most Korean recipes, you can tweak it to your own tastes with the addition of other vegetables, meat or seafood. You can use the ready-made Korean pancake batter (bu-chim-ga-ru) from Korean groceries.
Cooking the Korean steamed egg requires good attention and patience to make sure it’s not overcooked or burned. A light and fluffy custard or silken tofu texture is what you're after.
